music, monday, and the perfect pizza recipe

Monday, August 31, 2015

hope everyone had a great weekend. Peter and I are missing family vacation (my vacation time was a week off- my own fault, sadly) but we're listening to Cat Stevens and other old family classics to make up for it:

In other news, we're going to try for homemade pizza this weekend, and I am wayyyy too excited about it (any favorite recipes you'd suggest?); some friends are coming up to visit Saturday and Sunday we head up to Massachusetts to visit family before they move farther away; and we're finalizing a lot of last minute details for our trip to Spain! It's been nice having lots of things to look forward to even when I feel tired and overworked.

The other day Peter and I were perusing a wine shop and this song came on and I was so shocked to find he didn't recognize it. Can you believe? I'm not a huge Black Sabbath fan but it's kind of a piece of history, IMO. It's got a great riff, cool lyrics, and Ozzy's totally weird and creepy twist to it. It got us talking about metal and rock bands we grew up with- Radiohead, Metallica, Megadeth (a little heavy for me,) ACDC, and so many others. It makes me wonder what sounds or songs our kids will here on the radio from this generation. I know there's great music out there still, I just haven't had time to seek it out lately. So, any recommendations? Great new bands you've heard about?

Have  a great week, guys.

What's up guys?? Residency has kept me on my feet (lots of admitting, discharging, managing, and studying when I can. How are things with you?

I recently thought I lost my old iPod. I was strangely very sad about this- it was a beaten up old classic that I rarely use any more because no one has the proper outlet for iPod classics these days (myself included.) When my sister texted me telling she found it in my glove compartment, I breathed a sigh of relief. It represents about 10 years of my life in music, and though my tastes often change, I often find myself moved back to a certain time or place by music. I know I've said that before, so I won't go on and on about it. Instead here's one of my favorite songs with one of my favorite lyrics to start your week:

Somewhere on a desert highway, she rides a Harley Davidson, her long blonde hair flying in the wind.
